Getting started
Metryvo keeps your entries in a Google Sheet that you own. Setting up takes a couple of minutes.
1. Create a spreadsheet
In Google Sheets, create a new, empty spreadsheet and give it a name you will recognise, such as Metryvo. It lives in your own Google Drive.
2. Sign in and grant access
Open the app and sign in with the same Google account. Google asks whether Metryvo may see and edit only the files you open or create with it. That is the narrowest access Google offers. Metryvo cannot see anything else in your Drive.
3. Pick your spreadsheet
The app opens Google's file picker. Choose the spreadsheet from step 1. The app remembers your choice with your account, so your other devices use the same spreadsheet.
4. What goes where
Your spreadsheet holds a few tabs, which you can open and edit in Google Sheets at any time:
| Tab | What it holds |
|---|---|
pills | Pill intakes: date, time of day and the pills marked taken |
food | Every meal you log: date and time, food name and amount |
food-facts | Your own nutrition values per 100 g, which win over the shared list |
food-portions | Portion sizes you use often |
The app creates the pills tab when you first open pill intake. Your old first tab can stay; the app no longer uses it for pills.
5. Log something
- Pills: open pill intake. Tap a faded pill to mark it taken, or tap it again to undo. Use + to add any pill and Daytime to add a new time of day. Pills taken during the previous seven days appear as suggestions for that time of day.
- Food: open the food diary, tap add, type a food and an amount.
Where nutrition values come from
- Your own
food-factstab. - A shared list of common foods, maintained for all Metryvo users.
- If a food is in neither, tap the question mark next to it. Metryvo can estimate the values, and you decide
whether to save them to your own
food-factstab. See the FAQ for how estimates work.
